Wild Turkey 2020

The wild turkey was once on the brink of extinction as a result of habitat loss and over hunting. By the early 1900s total number of wild turkeys was comparable to today's worldwide polar bear population. The early American conservation movement made wild turkeys a priority and through habitat restoration and working with hunters the wild turkey has become our greatest restoration success. With an estimated 7 million turkey across the country the wild turkey is a testament to our early conservation efforts.
