Garter snakes' heads poking out of their den after the storm. On Isle Royale island in Michigan's Lake Superior, a variety of garter snake color patterns live in one den near an inland lake. The area is covered with small toads and must be a small piece of paradise for these water loving snakes.

He started his career in photography at Eastern Michigan University where he was the Photo Editor of the Eastern Echo. Potter also photographs weddings, events, and portraits. Potter lives in Ferndale with his wife, Shanna, and his Rottweiler, Bowie.
